Budapest, the beautiful capital of Hungary lies on both shores of the river Danube. Buda is the right, hilly side, with the Castle Hill and the Gellért Hill, Pest, the left side is flat. 9 bridges cross the river and bind the two parts together.
Philately was an important, supported activity for the communist regime in the decades between 1950-1980 and organized philately reached it’s peak in the early seventies with the Hungarian Society, MABÉOSZ registering around 240.000 members out of a population of 10 million…. Those were the days, my friend…. Hungary organized a successful FIP Exhibition in 1971 in Budapest, but up to now, that was the last one.
MABÉOSZ was founded in 1922 as one of the first national philatelic organizations of the world. So in 2022 it will be 100 years old. It is a great opportunity for celebration and we decided to do so by organizing a FIP Exhibition in Budapest, to do this celebration together with our philatelic friends from all over the world!
We would like to roganite a memorable event in this spectacular city, at a spectacular venue. We hope to greet as many of you as possible for a joint personal celebration of our centennary.
